Mr Flour

Due to the T&GO mania that's been on the net for the last month here's my small contribution. I love everything done by Flour but this is my favourite. It's pop music the way I like it to be.
Plus, the guy played bass for two other perfect bands in the 80's - Rifle Sport and Breaking Circus. I say: You gotta love that fuzzed Rickenbacker sound!!!!
Personnel: Flour (vocals, various instruments); Gerard Jean Boissy (guitar); Brian Paulson (guitar, cymbals); Jocelyn Gottschalk, Frazier (background vocals). Recorded in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Melody Maker (7/2/94, p.34) - "...worthy of the attention of noisehounds who like their guff twisted and skewered with an uncompromising bluntness, but without sacrificing The Tune..."

Birthday Party

Ahh.
Well, I recently became a father to a little boy named Jan. And it's a damn miracle my squaw and I made anything other than mess. It's a new wonder every day and the memory of how it was when we were single slowly evaporates and leaves us with such joy and a sense that every day is very important. Like a birthday! It is a Birthday Party everyday for us now you know, and here is a perfect soundtrack to that thought!!!

Rhyhtm Pigs last album - Baby Falcon Getaway

Well, here I go again...
El Paso's Rhythm Pigs were among the best hardcore bands ever and in my more than humble opinion in line with, say, Minutemen!
El Paso LP was and still is one of the best albums I own and as for this one, well I didn't dig it untill recently, when it sorta grew on me. It's their last album and is recorded without Jay Smith, who is one of the best rock guitarists ever. The guy employed here is a decent player, and the album is a return to Choke On This style of playing for the band. The sound of guitar and bass is too similar but works well. On Wikipedia it says that it was issued in 1996 by Cool Beans Records, but it was in fact first released in Holland in 1995. by Konkurrent Label.
It was the end for the band but what an end it was. They don't make'em like that any more.
Damn shame.
